There are different type of clean gate for mud tank design, different manufacturers offer different standard design. There is a design for clean gate round type with a butterfly valve for mud disposal with flexible control by valve. Many China supplier do clean gate with al blinded plate with bolts to save cost, it’s still able to disposal waste mud but not that convenient compared control by a valve. Some suppliers make a plate with rotating beam control which is faster close or open but still unable to connect with other tanks or pipelilne.

The solids control mud tanks normally divided into several tank compartments depending on it’s application. But, how to keep the balance between different tank compartments ? Many suppliers will just keep it separate and control tanks by a balance pipe between tanks, we can install a bottom valve between tanks, so that it is flexible to connect or block the connection between beside compartments. Seldom supplier install a valve cause it will increase cost a lot, especially when every supplier is competing on lower price now, and all designs will be considered on saving cost.
The mud tank is made by H beam, square pipe, gratings, handrails, tank wall, etc. Thank tank skid is made by H beam and tank wall about 10mm, tank wall material is 8mm thick. There are 100mm or 150mm square pipe on top of tank, one side of square pipe for clean water line and the other side for mud gun line.

Figure 1: A specialized dredge pump attachment for excavators, in the dredging processSlurry pumps are the mechanical devices utilized for pressure-driven transport of a fluid mixture (aka slurry). The fluid mixture by and large consists of water as a liquid with solids being minerals, sand, gravel, human waste, drilling mud or most of the crushed materials.
Dredge pumps are a special category of heavy-duty slurry pumps that are utilized in the process of dredging. Portable dredge pumps tend to be smaller, but pump solids, handle abrasive slurries and perform sediment removal for maintenance dredging projects equally well (albeit on a lower level). Dredging is referred to as the process of transport of underwater sediments (usually sand, gravel, other abrasive granular materials or rocks) from one region to another (a piece of typical dredging equipment is shown in Figure 1). Dredging takes place in shallow water areas of lakes, rivers or ocean for the purpose of land reclamation, desilting, flood prevention, mining operations, creation of new ports or expansion of existing ports. Hence, various industries that utilize dredge pumps are the construction industry, mining industry, the coal industry, and oil & gas industry.
The dredge’s suction pipe connects directly to the pump casing’s sealed frontal portion and plays a crucial role in absorbing the slurry and transporting the material through the separate discharge line.
A separate discharge line connected to the dredge pump’s discharge can help reduce friction losses and improve efficiency by facilitating the transport of material through the discharge pipeline.

Typical material used for the construction of slurry pumps are cast iron, stainless steel, and high chrome steel. Some slurry pumps come with a lining to better deal with problems of slurry abrasion. A few elastomers which are used in the lining material are natural rubber, polyurethane or neoprene. The selection of lining material depends on the operating temperature, pH of slurry and the presence of specific abrasive fluids used in the dredging process.
Based on the shaft orientation, the slurry pumps can be divided as horizontal pumps and vertical pumps with horizontal pumps having the shaft in a horizontal position while the vertical pumps have a vertically aligned shaft.
Horizontal pumps are the most common types of slurry pumps used, and hence have the advantage of ease of installation or maintenance, a wide range of selection of flow parameters and choice of design materials. However, the vertical pumps among other benefits have the advantage of requiring relatively much lesser ground space for installation.
Another method to classify the type of installation for slurry pumps is dry installation or wet installation. Dry installation pumps have the hydraulic end and the drive located outside the liquid while the wet installation pumps such as submersible pumps operate inside the sump or the slurry. The submersible pumps do not require much support structure, hence, do not occupy much space. Depending on the kind of operation and installation desired the preferred method of pump installation is decided. Certain pumps are also capable of pumping sea water and handling abrasive particles.

Dredging is a vital process that involves excavating and removing sediment, silt, and other materials from the bottom of water bodies such as rivers, lakes, and oceans. This operation is crucial for maintaining navigability, preventing flooding, and reclaiming land. The use of dredge pumps, dredging equipment, and suction hoses enables efficient sediment removal and dewatering, ensuring that waterways remain clear and functional.
Dredging projects require careful planning, technical expertise, and specialized equipment to ensure successful execution. The choice of dredging equipment, including portable dredge pumps, dewatering pumps and submersible pumps, depends on the project requirements and the type of sediment being removed (and whether you are pumping sea water or fresh water). Whether it’s for environmental remediation, construction, or maintaining navigable channels, dredging plays an essential role in various industries.
A dredge pump is a type of centrifugal pump specifically designed to remove and transport sediment, silt, or debris from bodies of water. The pump is designed to handle sea water and fresh water with a significant percentage of sand and abrasive particles, making it a crucial component of dredging equipment used in various industries, such as mining, construction, and environmental remediation.
Dredge pumps use centrifugal force to create a vacuum that draws in sediment-laden water. The rotating impeller then imparts kinetic energy to the mixture, accelerating it through the pump casing and moving it through the dredge pump’s discharge outlet. A crucial component in this process is the discharge pipeline, which ensures the efficient transport of the dredged material to the desired location, often in conjunction with dredge booster pumps for large-scale projects like harbor deepening and land reclamation.
