How to install and test the robot joint actuator ? The testing of the robot joint actuators before its official assembly is very important. Which can prevent damage to the motor during use. Accessory preparation 1. Robot joint body, 2. Power supply cable 3. Can cable 4. Capacitor 5. Connector 6. Resistance 7. Battery 8. Debugger 9. USB interface The joint actuators has three test modes: current mode, position mode and speed mode, which can be tested according to the user's usage situation. #Robot joint actcuators #Humanoid robot# robotic arm
Venom-inspired soft robot shapeshifts, stretches, and swings with ease The breakthrough introduces an electro-morphing gel (e-MG) that enables robots to change shape and move with lifelike agility. Unlike traditional rigid robots, the e-MG model can contort limbs, twist bodies, and swing across surfaces. This remarkable flexibility comes from the e-MG’s unique ability to respond to electric fields. When voltage is applied through ultralight electrodes, the gel reshapes, bending, stretching, or contracting based on the desired motion https://lnkd.in/dyXFaB2D
???? Globoid Worm Gear Reducers – A New Era in Robotic Precision For many years, most industrial robots have relied on harmonic drives and RV reducers. However, as robotic structures diversify, the demand is increasing for lighter, simpler, and more precise reducers. At Eastern Gear, we successfully developed a 5-axis articulated robot arm equipped with our proprietary globoid worm gear reducers. Compared to similar products, this innovation achieved both cost reduction and higher payload capacity. ⚙️ Key Advantages of Eastern Gear’s Globoid Worm Gear ★ 30% higher efficiency ★ 200% longer lifespan ★ High torque & high strength ★ Surface contact design (not point or line contact) → minimizes heat & maximizes durability ???? Application in Robotics Our 5-axis articulated robot arm uses globoid worm gears in every joint, providing: ★ Higher maximum torque ★ Repeatability of ±0.12mm (tested under KS B ISO : standards) ★ Working radius: mm (55.18 in.) ★ Payload capacity: 20 kg (44 lbs) ★ Self-locking function (back-drive prevention) → enhanced safety and reliability This proves that the globoid worm gear is not only a cost-effective alternative to harmonic drives and RV reducers, but also a performance-driven solution for next-generation robotics. ???? ???? Even Robots Need a Little Spring in Their Step Behind every smooth robotic motion is a spring working in the shadows. Controlling torque or force, balancing movement, and storing energy with surgical precision. This Halloween, we’re tipping our hats to the invisible forces bringing automation to life. Without springs, even the smartest machines would lose their rhythm. Our Springs Provide: ???? Controlled Torque: Spiral torsion and power springs regulate rotational movement for repeatable motion. ???? Energy Storage & Release: Constant force springs provide smooth, consistent retraction and extension. ???? Vibration Isolation: Helical isolators and specialized spring systems reduce shock for precision and longevity. ???? Compact Force Solutions: High power density springs enable micro-movements in robotic joints and end effectors. Every spring is built to meet or exceed ITAR, AS, ISO :, and ISO : standards. For 175 years, our reputation has been shaped by one commitment: QUALITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE. Because when precision components are critical, there’s no margin for error. ???? Balancing the Inverted Pendulum in Webots This week, I worked on one of the classic challenges in control engineering — the inverted pendulum. Using Webots, I implemented a PID controller to balance the pendulum in its upright position. The system relies on continuous feedback from a pendulum position sensor, which measures the pendulum’s angle and feeds it into the control loop. Based on the sensor readings, the controller dynamically adjusts the velocity of the left and right wheel motors to maintain stability and prevent the pendulum from falling. ⚙️ System Configuration: Mass of the pendulum: 50 g Length of the pendulum: 0.08 m Mass of the e-puck robot: 160 g This project highlights the importance of feedback control in robotics and how sensors and actuators work together to achieve dynamic stability. If you’ve also explored control systems or worked on simulation-based robotics projects, I’d love to hear about your experience! #Robotics #Webots #ControlSystems #PID #Mechatronics
We are very excited to share that our research on a millimeter-scale, steerable, fully-soft everting robot (vine robot) has been just published in Science Advances! In this work – a collaborative effort between Morimoto lab and Prof. Shengqiang Cai’s group – we developed a soft robotic skin integrated with liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) actuators that can contract when heated. This functionalized skin is thin, scalable, and compatible with eversion, which enabled localized steering of vine robots. By integrating multiple actuators around the circumference and along the length, the robot can navigate through highly tortuous environments in 3D space. Our robot demonstrates exciting potential for practical applications: The robot navigated through a model of a type-III aortic arch (the most challenging configuration) to deliver an aspiration catheter. The robot inspected a mock jet engine model using a camera mounted at the tip. A huge shout out to Sukjun Kim for leading this work, and to all collaborators who made it possible! We’re excited to see where this collaboration and line of research will lead next! When a space is too dangerous, confined, or difficult for humans to enter, you send in a robot. But what if that space has stairs, pipes, and unstructured rubble? You need a robot that can move like no other. Meet the Guardian S from Sarcos Robotics. This remarkable snake-like inspection robot is an all-terrain master. Its unique, modular design and versatile locomotion allow it to traverse incredibly complex environments, climb over obstacles, and even crawl through narrow pipes, providing a mobile sensor platform for places that are otherwise inaccessible. This is a powerful tool for enhancing human safety. With applications in industrial inspection, public safety, and search and rescue, the Guardian S can be teleoperated into hazardous areas to gather critical data, keeping its human operator out of harm's way. It's a brilliant example of how robotics is extending our reach and protecting lives. #Robotics #Innovation #Inspection #SarcosRobotics #PublicSafety #SearchAndRescue #Engineering #TechnologyForGood
