Why is energy storage metal case Better?

What battery material enclosure is recommended? Steel or plastic?
I have a custom made stainless steel enclosure (like a deep tray with a topper).
ACE supply professional and honest service.
But I was wondering whether the enclosure material is important. Westmarine sells the cheap plastic ones. There are also the ones in your website that are powder coated steel but they are expensive for a small cabin application.

Plastic vs Aluminum case cells | DIY Solar Power Forum
Plastic prismatic cells have been around for a very long time and I would guess ( only guess) like most things there is always someone reinventing the wheel.
It seems most folks on this forum are building systems that will be working in a sub fractional "C" environment which is very gentle and generates very little if any heat in the cells. If someone is not sure what that means or doesn't knows how to figure it out it's fairly simple. I'll use my system as an example.
During the summer 1,280w solar will charge 65-80a, 70a is very common if I don't have excessive draws on. 70a/ 500ah (batteries)= .14c, this time of the year it will max at about 50a charging so that would be 50/500=.10c
That is pretty gentle, now if I use my generator with the Magnum inverter/ charger I'll set it to charge at 100a, 100/500=.20c. Which is still very gentle.
After years of observing different conditions in charging at different ambient temps, cell temp increase really hasn't been a issue or something I think to lose sleep over.
It might just come down to if you like aluminum casing buy those if not the old style prismatic casing will do just fine.
