Scaffolding couplers carry a multitude of uses such as the initial fold or bending of the bars, load eccentricity, and many others. All in all, they are responsible for maintaining the scaffold's stability.
Also referred to as fixed clamps, double couplers are a type of scaffolding coupler that can be connected to a tube, either electro-galvanised or zinc-plated, in pressed or drop forged versions. Joining scaffold tubes in 90 degrees, these right angle connectors are designed for use in various types of scaffolding construction including in lighting rigs, staging and guard rails.
Double couplers have a safe working load of 6.1kN, making it ideal for use on a ledger, standard, transom or brace. They also work well in resisting tension or compressive loads.
Thanks to their excellent slide and damage resistance, double couplers are amongst the widely used heavy-duty, anti-slipping forging scaffolding couplers in Germany as well as other countries. There exist two types of German scaffold double coupler : normal threaded and round threaded. The latter is also termed the Layher scaffold double coupler, a relatively strong duty scaffold drop-forged right angle clamp.

Double couplers have an outside diameter of 48.3 mm at right angles. The typical working load limit of double couplers is 6.25kN (637.32 KGF) against slip at tightening torque of 54Nm.
